Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club is now the longest racetrack in North America and second-longest in the world at over 9-miles across its 933 acres. Job Description

Track Safety is responsible for providing a safe and well managed racetrack for members, special events, and track rentals. All positions within the department have physical and environmental requirements to keep themselves and others safe. This is a brief outline of the positions within this department. At times there will be crossover, or someone assigned multiple responsibilities.

  • Flagger: is assigned to a corner or section of track with a radio and set of flags. They are watching, listening, and smelling what occurs in their assigned section. They radio in their findings and act as directed. Hands on response to an incident will be rare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stationed on corners and areas of the track and need to be able to respond to an incident or clear debris when directed.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate by radio in a fast and efficient manner.
  • Observe, report what you hear, see, and smell and respond as directed.
  • Must be able to stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
  • Flexible schedule for occasional work.
  • Always deliver a high level of customer service when interacting with customers.
  • Prefer candidates that are familiar with racing, racing rules, and terminology.

  • Requires a valid driver’s license and must have an acceptable risk determination from the company’s insurance provider.

General Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, kneeling, and pulling most of the time in an outdoor setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to assist in pushing, pulling, moving a disabled vehicle occasionally.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • The worker is regularly subject to race and sports cars. For periods of time there are also fuel and oil smells and noise levels over 110 db.
  • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at the knee to come to a rest on the knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Stairs: The physical ability to go up and down 4 flights of stairs.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately and clearly.
